Department of Islamic Studies

The Department of Islamic Studies at Rahim Yar Khan Campus is a distinguished academic unit of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. Dedicated to pursuing knowledge, character development, and research excellence, the department offers programs at the BS and MPhil levels. Our curriculum combines the depth of classical Islamic scholarship with the analytical tools of modern academia, enabling students to address the intellectual, ethical, and social challenges of today's world.

With a team of highly qualified faculty members and a strong commitment to research, the department emphasises critical thinking, moral reasoning, and scholarly engagement. Students are encouraged to explore diverse areas, including Qur’anic Studies, Hadith, Fiqh, Islamic Law, Islamic History, Comparative Religion, and Contemporary Islamic Thought.

One of the department’s key achievements is its research journal, Al-Raqim—a peer-reviewed academic journal recognised by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) in the Y category. The journal plays a vital role in fostering scholarly debate and disseminating original research in the field of Islamic Studies.

Head of The Department: Dr. Muhammad Asif Malik
