Department of Pakistan Studies

The Department of Pakistan Studies was newly established in spring 2021, keeping in view the demand of Southern Punjab. The faculty of the Department / Program consists of one
Assistant Professors and one Lecturer. The subject of Pakistan studies is interdisciplinary and encompasses different aspects of Pakistan’s history and culture. The main purpose of
the subject is to provide an in-depth understanding of Pakistan. Presently, the Department of Pakistan Studies is a flourishing and expanding academic community committed to high
standards of research. The questions we ask, the philosophies and methodologies we draw upon, embrace the natural and social sciences as well as the humanities.

Program Mission:

The core mission of the Department of Pakistan Studies of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Sub Campus Rahim Yar Khan is to prepare students with skills that enable
them to work in many settings, from national, state and in think tanks. Whereas, to foster an appreciation and understanding of the history and politics of Pakistan. Moreover, the
The department's mission is to provide its students with educational experiences of the highest quality and to conduct vital research that produces valuable publications, articles and other
research fields. The department is committed to outstanding teaching and scholarly activities within the framework of academic freedom and diversity of ideas.


Program Vision:
This program is designed to provide students with the theoretical foundation and methodological tools necessary to contribute to the understanding of human interventions in
the environment. Through its emphasis on specialisation and interdisciplinary perspectives, students are given the opportunity to carry out in-depth research work in any of the
Department’s areas of specialisation covering three broad categories of environment: the natural or bio-physical environment; the human, cultural or behavioural environment; and the
urban, built or designed environment. In addition to contributing to the advancement of knowledge, students will be well placed to enter a wide range of careers in environmental,
urban planning and public policy fields
